I teach, research, and consult on national level export promotion and business level export development. I'm interested in the structural attributes (e.g., entrepreneurial ecosystems, export promotion programmes, free trade agreements, and national export strategies), the strategic postures (e.g., ambidexterity, entrepreneurial orientation, and export orientation), and operational aspects (e.g., export assistance, export financing, and internationalisation pathways) shaping international success. My work speaks to policymakers, captains of industry, and international entrepreneurs. Prior to embarking on a career in academia, I spent 10 years in industry where I held roles in international logistics and retail management. The experience, which includes stints in the USA and Zimbabwe, has given me a wealth of knowledge on practical aspects of cross border commerce. I also lean on my personal experience as an aspiring entrepreneur. This enables me to bring theory to life with real-world examples.
